Helping aged care providers chart their way to a viable future

Following 10 months of hearings, the Interim Report of the Royal Commission into Aged Care was released in October 2019. It was a revealing and damning report identifying three areas for immediate action:

1
More funding for homecare packages to cut waiting list times.
2
Reducing reliance on chemical restraints. Of the more than $500m pledged in extra funds, $25m will be spent on medication management programs to reduce chemical restraint use.
3
Stopping younger people with disabilities from being forced into aged care facilities. By 2022, the Government will ensure that no one under 45 will be living in aged care.

While there are clearly challenges for the residential aged care sector, there are also a myriad of opportunities to move forward successfully in the new landscape.
